A horse-and-carriage accident in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, left one person injured on Tuesday evening (November 25). The incident occurred around 4:40 p.m. on Springhill Road in Little Britain Township when a vehicle collided with the horse and carriage, sending both into a nearby creek.
Emergency responders from the Robert Fulton Fire Company arrived on the scene to find the horse and carriage in the creek bed. According to WGAL, the injured person was assessed by EMS and transported to a hospital. The individual was reported to be bleeding but conscious upon arrival, as noted by LancasterOnline.
Fire crews successfully freed the horse from its harness and used a rope system to pull the damaged carriage from the creek. The condition of the horse remains unknown. The ABC27 report highlighted that incidents involving horse and buggies have been increasing in Pennsylvania, particularly in the Midstate region.
The Pennsylvania State Police also responded to the scene, and an investigation into the crash is underway. No other injuries have been reported, and emergency crews cleared the scene by 5:30 p.m.
