President Donald Trump accused six Democratic lawmakers of "seditious behavior, punishable by death" after they released a video urging military members to refuse illegal orders. The lawmakers, including Representative Chrissy Houlahan, are veterans or former intelligence officials. They argued that the administration poses a threat to the Constitution and emphasized that military personnel should not follow unlawful commands.

In response, President Trump posted on Truth Social, labeling the lawmakers as "traitors" and calling for their arrest and trial. He wrote, "An example MUST BE SET," and shared a post suggesting historical figures like George Washington would have executed them. However, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt clarified that Trump does not wish for the lawmakers' execution, but criticized them for allegedly encouraging military defiance of lawful orders.

The video, shared by Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin, included remarks from Senator Mark Kelly and Representatives Chris DeLuzio, Maggie Goodlander, Chrissy Houlahan, and Jason Crow. They stated, "Our laws are clear. You can refuse illegal orders," highlighting their oath to defend the Constitution.

The situation has sparked concern about political violence, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries urging Trump to recant his rhetoric. Meanwhile, House Speaker Mike Johnson defended Trump, saying he was defining sedition. The Department of Justice and Pentagon are reviewing the matter.
