The shooting was reported around 2:15 p.m. on South 4th Street, according to emergency dispatchers, and the district attorney's office later confirmed that one person was killed and another injured.

The district put its schools on lockdown out of an abundance of caution, and dismissal eventually began in waves around 5 p.m.

County officials have not yet announced an arrest in the deadly shooting or released the name of the victim.
