Central Pennsylvania is experiencing a surge in heating service calls as freezing weather grips the region. The National Weather Service has issued a cold weather advisory for several counties, including Cambria and Somerset, with temperatures expected to drop as low as 15 degrees below zero due to wind chills.

According to CBS 21, the cold spell is part of a larger weather pattern affecting much of the eastern United States. Residents in central Pennsylvania are advised to bundle up as the cold air is expected to persist throughout the month.

The freezing temperatures have led to an increase in demand for heating services, with energy companies receiving numerous calls from residents in need of assistance. In Harrisburg, the forecast predicts mostly sunny skies with highs near 27 degrees, but snow showers and wind gusts up to 40 mph are expected in the afternoon, as reported by PennLive.

The cold weather advisory remains in effect until Wednesday (January 22), and residents are urged to take precautions to stay warm and safe during this period of extreme cold.
