Shapiro Budget Boosts Environmental Agency Positions
(Harrisburg, PA) -- Funding to create new positions is a major part of Governor Josh Shapiro's budget proposal for the two state environmental agencies. The new hires funded for Fiscal Year 2024-25 would be involved in speeding up the state environmental permit approval process. They would also oversee energy development and build new hiking trails if lawmakers approve. Overall, the Department of Environmental Protection would be allocated 245-million-dollars -- a 19 percent increase.
