State Police See Spike In Cadet Applications After College Requirement Dropped
(Harrisburg, PA) -- Pennsylvania's State Police Commissioner says his department has seen a spike in applications to the police academy after the state dropped its college credit requirement. Colonel Christopher Paris said in a news release that nearly half of the over 12-hundred applicants would not have been eligible just a month ago. Cadet applicants now are required only to have a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license. They also need to be a state resident and at least 20 years old to apply. Paris says the state is waiving the college degree requirement on a trial basis.
