Speed Limit Restored on Some Roads in the South-Central PA Region

Speed restrictions remain on several other highways in the region

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has lifted the speed limit and right-lane-only commercial vehicle restriction on several roads in southcentral Pennsylvania.

Speed limits have been restored on the following:

  • Interstate 81 from the Maryland state line to Interstate 78.
  • Interstate 83 (entire length).
  • Route 15 from the Maryland state line to Route 581.
  • Route 22/322 from Interstate 81 to the Perry County/Juniata County line.

 

Speed limit restrictions are currently in place on several other highways in the region.

PennDOT is urging motorists to avoid unnecessary travel but those who must head out will see speeds reduced to 45 mph on the following highways: 

 

  • Interstate 78 from Interstate 81 to the Berks County line.
  • Interstate 283 from Interstate 76 to Interstate 83 (entire length).
  • Route 30 from Route 15 to Route 23 (Walnut Street).
  • Route 222 in Lancaster County.
  • Route 322 from I-83 to the Dauphin County/Lebanon County line.

 

PennDOT is continuing to treat roadways in the area and will continue until roads are clear.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles, including color-coded winter conditions on 2,900 miles, by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.

511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
