(Undated) -- The Food and Drug Administration is authorizing a new rapid, at-home COVID-19 test. On Monday, the administration approved ACON Laboratories' Flowflex COVID-19 Home Test. Top FDA official Jeff Shuren said the move is expected to double rapid at-home testing capabilities in the next several weeks. The manufacturer plans to create more than 100 million tests per month and increase that number to 200-million by February 2022. Since the coronavirus pandemic began, the FDA has authorized more than 400 COVID-19 tests.
