Bears Need Win To Stay Alive

The Hershey Bears are in a do-or-die situation as they face the Charlotte Checkers in Game Three of the Atlantic Division Finals tonight (May 21) at the GIANT Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The Bears, the No. 1 seed in the Atlantic Division, have lost the first two games of the best-of-five series on the road and need a victory to keep their hopes of a third consecutive Calder Cup alive.

Hershey, a historic team with 13 Calder Cup championships, is aiming to become only the second team in American Hockey League (AHL) history to win three consecutive titles, a feat last achieved by the Springfield Indians from 1960 to 1962. The Bears have been dominant in recent years, winning nine consecutive playoff series, but now face elimination against the No. 2-seeded Checkers.

The Bears' playoff journey has been marked by standout performances, including those from Alex Limoges, who led the team in scoring against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms with six points, and Bogdan Trineyev, who leads the team in postseason goals. Hunter Shepard, the 2023 AHL Playoff MVP, has been a key player in goal.

Game Three is set to begin at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. If Hershey wins, they will host Game Four on Thursday (May 22) and, if necessary, a decisive Game Five on Saturday (May 24). Tickets for the games are available online. The Bears are determined to continue their playoff run and aim for another championship victory.
