Sean Kingston is preparing to be released from jail after he was taken into custody for failing to post his bail.

According to a report TMZ published on Tuesday, April 15, Kingston was arrested earlier today and taken to the Federal Detention Center in Miami. The "Beautiful Girls" singer was required to pay $100,000 to remain on house arrest after he and his mother Janice Turner were found guilty of federal wire fraud last month. A judge deemed Turner a flight risk and took her into custody but confined Kingston to home detention on the condition that he would post a $100,000 cash bond.

"Mr. Kingston’s bond has been posted and he is in the process of being released," Sean Kingston's attorney Zeljka Bozanic told the outlet.

Sean Kingston and his mom were convicted on all five charges of federal wire fraud last month. The 35-year-old artist reportedly cried when the jury read off his and his mother's convictions. The mother-and-son duo was accused of scamming numerous victims out of luxury items including jewelry, electronics, cars, and a massive microLED TV. The items amounted to over $1 million.

According to the indictment, Kingston used his celebrity influence to coerce sellers of luxury goods to deliver items before they received payment. Turner was accused of ensuring dates and other details of the deliveries. They allegedly made the payments through fraudulent wire transfers while Kingston kept the items.

Kingston and his mother are expected to be sentenced on July 11. They face up to 20 years in prison.
