Nourishing Neighbors Together During Hunger Action Month

September is Hunger Action Month, a time to raise awareness about food insecurity and inspire action in communities across the country. Hunger affects our neighbors, families, and communities every day, and throughout the 27 counties served by the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, the need remains significant. Today, 1 in 8 individuals and 1 in 5 children in our region face hunger.

Ending hunger requires more than providing food alone. It takes neighbors, community partners, volunteers, donors, and advocates working together to create a strong network of support and opportunity. That is the spirit behind Nourishing Neighbors Together.

This September, the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank joins Feeding America, food banks, and communities nationwide in recognizing Hunger Action Month. Together with local partners, we are working to make it easier for neighbors experiencing food insecurity to access fresh, nutritious food while building innovative solutions that address the root causes of hunger.

Every action matters. Whether it is volunteering at a local food distribution, supporting food assistance programs, advocating for policies that strengthen food security, or partnering with organizations dedicated to fighting hunger, each effort helps move us closer to a future where everyone has reliable access to the food they need.

When we treat every neighbor with dignity, work collaboratively, and strengthen the network of organizations serving our communities, we help create a Pennsylvania where no one has to worry about their next meal.
